Hello and welcome to my 5.4.8 Hunter Guide. Listed below is all you'll need to know about 5.4.8 Survival and Beast Mastery Hunters

Image

If Alliance - Panda and Worgen are the best for now due to the fact they give extra agility(Pandaren) and 1% to crit (Worgen)
If Horde - Orc is the safe race for all 3 specs. Troll is the best choice if you only play BM due to the fact that they get a mini-berserk on a 2 minute cooldown which can be nice for longer fights and Pandas are the same as they are alliance

Image

Agility - Agility is our primary stat and it increases the damage of each shot and the chance for it to crit. It has a huge difference in scaling compared to our secondary stats

Hit (340 rating = 1%)- Increases the chance your shot will be hit. You need 7.5% hit to cap against a raid boss (2550) and 6.5%(2210) if you have the 1% hit from draenei

Expertise (340 rating = 1%) - Ranged attacks can now be dodged, which expertise helps to counter. You need 7.5% (2550) dodge reduction to cap against a raid boss and 6.5%(2210) if you have the 1% expertise from the troll or dwarf racials

Crit (600 rating = 1%) - Currently the best secondary stat for Survival and Third secondary stat for BM

Mastery (600 rating = 1%) - Currently the second best secondary stat for Beast Mastery and Thrid secondary stat for Survival

Haste (425 rating = 1%) - Increases your focus regen and the speed of your non-instant attacks. Including Barrage, Auto Shot, Cobra Shot and Powershot. This is Currently the best secondary stat for Beast Mastery and second best secondary for Survival.

General Stat Prio

Survival: Agility > Hit/Exp(7.50%) > Crit > Haste > Mastery

Beast Mastery: Agility > Hit/Exp(7.50%) > Haste > Mastery > Crit

Tier 1: Movement Tier (Priority is from top to Bottom)

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Chimera - Reduces the cooldown of Disengage by 10 sec, and the cooldown of Deterrence by 60 sec. - This is in my opinion the best talent choice for T16 due to the fact that it gives the hunter alot more survivability during long fights such as garrosh or paragons

Posthaste - Your Disengage frees you from all movement impairing effects and increases your movement speed by 60% for 8 sec. - This talent is decent, I used it alot on progression, It's good for fights like Thok/Galakras(Tower Group) or Malkorok if you have to soak the orbs. This would be my choice for heavily movement fights

Narrow Escape - When you Disengage, you also activate a web trap which encases all targets within 8 yards in sticky webs, preventing movement for 8 sec. - Gives no utility, not a good choice for this tier.

Tier 2: CC Tier

Binding Shot - You fire a magical projectile, tethering the enemy and any other enemies within 5 yards of the landing arrow for (11 sec - 1) sec. - This is the best talent choice for this tier due to the fact that it can stun multiple adds instead of 1 like wyvern sting does, has many uses for Immerseus adds, Galakras adds, Foul Slimes on Shamans so on and so forth.

Wyvern Sting - A stinging shot that puts the target to sleep for 30 sec. - Might have some use on paragons for bloods, but binding shot is much better.

Intimidation - Command your pet to intimidate the target, stunning it for 3 sec. - With this replacing silencing shot in the T2 Talent tree, this talent has no use in this tier.

Tier 3: Survivability Tier

Aspect of the Iron Hawk - The Hunter takes on the aspects of an iron hawk, increasing ranged attack power by 25%, and reducing all damage taken by 10%. - Like I said earlier with "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Chimera" This again gives the hunter more survivability which right now is pretty damn good, while spirit bond heals you it doesn't heal enough to heal through some damage in Siege of Orgrimmar

Spirit Bond - While your pet is active, you and your pet will regenerate 3% of total health every 2 sec. - As I said above, this isn't viable to heal you through fights anymore, but this talent is a must have if you are doing the Siegecrafter Blackfuse belts and going up every single time.

Exhilaration - Instantly heals you for 30% and your pet for 100% of total health. - Due too it's long cooldown this can't compete with the other two talents.

Tier 4: Focus Regen Tier

Thrill of the Hunt - You have a 30% chance when you fire a ranged attack that costs Focus or Kill Command to reduce the Focus cost of your next 3 Arcane Shots or Multi-Shots by 20. - Meshes perfectly with the T16 2-piece set. My choice for survival and as for Beast Mastery this can trump Dire Beast, for example fights with alot of adds such as Protecters or Galakras.

Dire Beast - Summons a powerful wild beast to attack your target for 15 sec. Each time the beast deals damage, you will gain 5 Focus. - This is a must have for BM as it scales with agility and mastery, although Dire Beast gets outscaled when there are 3+ targets but this is my choice for single target Beast Mastery fights.

Fervor - Instantly restores 50 Focus to you and your pet and an additional 50 Focus over 10 sec. - Not really a fan of fervor, I just think that TotH trumps this for SV due to the T16 2-piece set.

Tier 5: Pet Dps Tier

A Murder of Crows - Summons a flock of crows to attack your target over the next 30 sec. If used on a target below 20% health, the cooldown is reduced to 60 seconds. - Best choice for survival throughout Siege of Orgrimmar, switch this out for Blink Strikes on Spoils and Siegecrafter(if you're on the belts).

Blink Strikes - Your pet's Basic Attacks deal 50% increased damage - My choice for BM as it sims more damage than AMoC but you may want to switch it out for fights like thok due to the fact you pet won't be on the boss the whole time due to fixate.

Lynx Rush - Your pet rapidly charges from target to target, attacking 9 times over 4 sec - Does not scale very well, damage is low, not a good choice for this tier.

Tier 6: Dps Tier

Glaive Toss - You hurl two glaives toward a target, each dealing 437 to 1308 (+ 20% of Attack power) damage to each enemy struck - Better than barrage if the fight has 2 or less targets.

Barrage - Rapidly fire a spray of shots forward for 3 sec, dealing a total of 640% weapon damage to the enemy target and an average of 320% weapon damage to each other enemy target in front of you. - Better than Glaive Toss if the fight hase 3 or more targets.

Powershot - You wind up a powerful shot, which deals 600% weapon damage to the target and 300% weapon damage to all enemies in between you and the target - Long cooldown, Long cast, Low damage, not a good choice for this tier.

Reforging!

After capping hit and expertise (2550 rating each), you should go for Crit > Haste > Mastery for Survival and Haste > Mastery > Crit for Beast Mastery

I would suggest using the askmrrobot addon and website! You can find it here and here > http://www.askmrrobot.com/ - http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/askmrrobot

Here is a video I made showing you how to use the askmrrobot addon!
phpBB [video]

Enchanting!

Shoulders: Greater Tiger Claw Inscription

Back: Accuracy or Superior Critical Strike

Chest: Glorious Stats

Wrists: Greater Agility or Fur Lining - Agility

Hands: Superior Expertise or Greater Haste

Waist: Living Steel Belt Buckle

Legs: Shadowleather Leg Armor

Feet: Blurred Speed

Weapon: Lord Blastington's Scope of Doom

Gemming!

Focusing on high secondary stats, we need to find what benefits us the most to gain the most out of gems and sockets.

Metagem: Capacative Primal Diamond or Agile Primal Diamond if you don't have the legendary

Red: Delicate Primordial Ruby

Yellow: Deadly Vermilion Onyx for survival and Deft Vermilion Onyx for Beast Mastery

Blue: Glinting Imperial Amethyst

Image

b]Major Glyphs[/b]

These are the three primary major and best glyphs for Siege of Orgrimmar

Glyph of Animal Bond - While your pet is active, all healing done to you and your pet is increased by 10%. - Very good match with Iron Hawk.
Glyph of Deterrence - Increases the damage reduction granted by Deterrence by 20%. - Since there isn't a better glyph this is very nice and gives some extra safety to the hunter.
Glyph of Disengage - Increases the distance you travel when you Disengage. - This is a MUST HAVE for Siegecrafter if you're going up everytime! Other than that this gives alot of extra utility.

Minor Glyphs

As minor glyphs don't matter much, here are the ones I prefer

Glyph of Revive Pet - Reduces the pushback suffered from damaging attacks while casting Revive Pet by 100%.
Glyph of Stampede - Your Stampede no longer summons pets from your stable, and instead uses copies of your current pet.
Glyph of Marking - Your Hunter's Mark ability now places a bullseye on your target instead of its usual visual.

Image

In my opinion these are the most beneficial professions for raiding.

Jewelcrafting - 320 agility - 2 gems with 320 Agility instead of 160 Agility

Engineering -320 agility on average - 1920 Agility for 10 seconds every minute

Blacksmithing - 320 agility - 2 extra sockets

Inscription - 320 agility - 520 Agility shoulder enchant instead of 200 Agility shoulder enchant

Alchemy - 320 agility - 1320 Agility instead of 1000 Agility from flask

Enchanting - Two 160 Agility Ring Enchants

Tailoring - 1090 AP - 180 Hit

Leatherworking - 320 Agility Leg/Wrist Enchants

Consumables

Food: Sea Mist Rice Noodles - 300 Agility (600 if Pandaren)

Flask: 1000 Agility for 1 hour (1320 Agility + 1 hour 30 minutes duration if Alchemist)

Potion: 4000 Agility for 25 seconds

Cobra Shot

Beast Mastery AoE

No explosive traps, Just keep beast cleave up at all times and Barrage/Glaive Toss + Beastial Wrath on cooldown.

It looks like you changed the only complaint I had, regarding the BM stat priorities. For a quick guide it looks good.

For some reason SimC was showing Mastery > Haste > Crit and Askmrrobot was Showing Haste > Crit > Mastery.
