For the final HoF writeup, I knew what to write right away. There are players that are solid bricks for the guild. The foundation, those that help keep the structure solid, the core, the raiders that will always be there, dependable, great players, great leaders, like the other HoF inductees. A guy like Rando, he's the glue, the mortar that holds everything together.
He originally applied during Naxx40 era on his mage, Randolph. Part of about 6-8 mages, he helped blow shit up. He played his shadowpriest for a bit, helped us out on that character, then swapped to his rogue. After Rando came back from a long vacation/retirement, he was brought into Naxx during WotLK. He probably jumped 200 ilvls, and there’s a screenshot of him getting close to 20 achievements at once.
All the dirty jokes, the legacy of what mage chat is now, is in part thanks to him. I still don’t know what goes on there, I only hear things from Cylawn like: Iceblock: “My daughter is pregnant.” Rando: “Don’t you have like 8 pregnant daughters?” He made mage chat a fun place to be by keeping Babelicious in his place. There’s dozens of quotebook entries with him.
A successful guild needs that glue. It separates a raiding/mercenary guild, from our guild. We're a raiding family here, we're friends, we enjoy each other's company. Guys like this keep the guild fun, keep people laughing, and always find something to do.
When VWCS(Very Worst Case Scenario) started a couple years ago, he was one of the main
guys that spearheaded these drunken weekend runs. I would log on the next day and hear of how
much fun they had, what happened, how drunk Cylawn got, that someone recorded him singing over vent. VWCS is still going, but needs to infuse more alcohol into their runs.
And he's just as reliable as ever. Running a short roster, when one of our main raiders decide not to show up for hardmodes, it hurts. So I tell Rando, 'hey we need you to help out, can you?' 'Ya...but I don't know the har...' 'You'll be fine, don't worry.' We threw him into hardmodes, he helped us kill bosses until more people logged on, sacrificing his lockout for the week.
We’ve had these glue players before, retired players like Ephi, Crysalis, Kub, Bence. Rando is still here. They may not have been world class dpsers, the best in the world, but they had a role that was just as important after they stopped raiding. These are the kinds of players I want, good players, guys that do more than just raid the regular hours. I want people that contribute outside of raids and are online to do something. Guys like Rando.
He loves his pancakes and he nearly died from eating too many, but was saved by Doctor Rootleaf.
He also has a giant manbearpigcat that I tried to find a picture of but the link is broken. Hopefully someone has it saved.
This is the kind of guy that keeps the guild going, and more importantly, keeps me laughing…quotebooking…going…which makes the guild run.
