IF you're in the market for new running shoes....

Postby Primetime » Wed Mar 23, 2016 1:11 am

I highly recommend getting some shoes from the "Nike Free" line. Hands down the greatest running shoes I've ever had. The shoes are amazing and last me 600-700 miles or so each pair. The support is insane and flexibility. The 5.0 and 4.0 lines are really good. SO if ur the market, pay a little more you won't regret it.

I got a new pair today and tested these for 6 miles:

And here I was thinking that gym shoe was code for something.

I usually buy asics, how are these compared to their quality?

There is so many styles of design / colors. I always went with the black / white, but hey they have a lot of versions.

I honestly haven't met a better shoe for running. I have had a asics pair in the past in college but they didn't last over 500 miles and the bottom fell out. I run about 60-70 miles a week (on track / cross country trails) so I needed something lightweight and flexible. I'd say the durability is at least a 9/10.

The frees dont have the best support, but theyre a lightweight, versatile running shoe. Quite comfy to run in and extremely flexible. Useless for leg day, obviously. My pair of frees have lasted me for so long.
If youre a running fanatic and you're used to the asic's and do decide to switch over, really take the time to feel them out and get used to them. They're sleek, they're 'in', and overall they're a great pair of shoes.

One thing that annoys me is how easily pebbles get stuck in the grip.

And I'm with Prime with the black and white pair,

I went to a store that recorded how I walk and measured all my shit, i ended up getting some custom brooks running shoes and they are the best thing I've ever worn. might wanna look around for a store like that, i know the walking store is a chain that does this.
You can wipe as many times as you want to, but you can only parse once a week. Make it count.

Yo ony....I had that problem with the first set I owned with the pebbles, but havent had that issue with the last 2 pairs. The version that I had the pebble issue was:

U can see how the bottom is more spread than the other versions of the shoe and the gaps between at the bottom. I haven't had that issue since this pair.
The other versions i've had absolutely no issues are:

and

I think they adjusted after that version and refined it with closer design bottoms for that reason.

Because sometimes you love your discontinued running shoes so much that you find a new pair through seedy, underground back channels just to keep a good thing going. Nike LunarElite+ 2's, my favorite running shoe ever.

Yeah it's hard to try a new pair once u get to used to them. The Free series is just so different than the other shoes....I feel like it works more than a normal running shoe. I don't think I could change now. And the series has the same bottom / flex on all their versions so you can really get the perfect shoe.

Would these be good for mostly elliptical use? I rarely get outside to run, but would want something for the times I do.

These would be great for elliptical use. They're lightweight, fit well and breathe beautifully. This pair would last you quite a long time with primarily elliptical use.
